Bilateral Investment Treaty
A Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) is an international agreement between two states establishing terms and conditions for foreign direct investment by nationals of the respective other state. BITs typically comprise a number of guarantees for investors, including arbitration clauses as a means of recourse against violations of their rights.
